HOSTS: Helping One Student To Succeed

The MSD of Wayne Township’s HOSTS program is focused on helping third and fourth grade students in reading. Mentors come to HOSTS one hour a week and work with the same two 3rd or 4th grade students for 30 minutes each. All the materials are prepared for the mentor, and the HOSTS teacher is always with the mentors during HOSTS to support and assist them.

Mentor qualifications:
A desire to help a child

Time required:
One hour a week

HOSTS at Bridgeport Elementary is in session 8:15 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. for third graders and 11:00 a.m. – 12:00p.m. for fourth graders on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Mentors may select the day they prefer.

HOSTS mentors are asked to attend a training session to acquaint them with the HOSTS program and the materials that are used. The HOSTS teacher is always available during the mentoring session to assist the volunteers.
